Disposal Guidelines

Disposal of W&H electrical and electronic products

The EU has issued the Directive 2002/96/EC on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), for the reduction in the quantity of waste electrical and electronic devices and for the collection and recycling of reusable component parts across Europe.

The WEEE-Directive for the disposal of electrical and electronic devices

The aim of the WEEE-directive is that used electrical and electronic products will no longer be mixed with general household waste. They are to undergo proper treatment, reclamation and recycling at the appropriate collection points.

The WEEE-directive applies to all privately and commercially used electronic and electrical devices. It has been in effect across Europe since 13th August 2005.
Special national conditions can be put into place in the individual countries of the European Union.

Identification for W&H electrical and electronic products

All W&H devices are marked with the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol in accordance with
EN 50419 (see illustration).

This symbol is located on the nameplate at the back of the device. For products which are too small (e.g. electric motors) to tolerate the standard-conformant identification, the symbol will be depicted on the barcode label.

Notes on collection

Please note that the proper disposal of products protects the environment. It prevents possible harmful effects on humans and the environment, which could be caused by improper handling of waste.

W&H recognises its responsibilities and obligations under all current National and European legislation related to WEEE.

W&H (UK) offers free collection and disposal of old WEEE (any manufacturer's similar product) at the time of installation by W&H (UK) of new W&H WEEE products.

In addition, free disposal is provided for any W&H WEEE upon receipt of the equipment at the W&H (UK) premises. It is however the responsibility of the customer/owner to ensure the safe delivery of such equipment to these premises at their expense.
